Magyar népi nap

Népi... It's quite paradoxical to try and translate a word from a very different language who means both national and traditionnal at the same time. I'm just thinking of us westerners who have lost so much of the heritage, although luckily so much is still done to enjoy it, but doesn't so much mean a strong identity as it does a lost social practice. Without taking these words to seriously, the relation we all have to our heritage is crucial in the cultural sense, and when you think under the age of globalization that there is just as much a westernisation of social practices - to start with- this is just an important factor to consider within the relations of power and exchanges who bring countries together.
Nap is the word for day in Hungarian. Népi nap brings me back to the strong feeling of identity that gathered the hungarians last summer in the little village of Martfü, and I respect this immensely.

Népi... C'est assez paradoxal d'essayer de traduire un mot venant d'une langue completement differente de la notre signifiant a la fois national et traditionnel. Je pense a nous, a l'Ouest, qui avons perdu tellement de cet heritage, meme si bien heureusement beaucoup est fait pour faire revivre ce patrimoine, ou plutot pour sa continuité... Ces quelques mots ne sont pas a prendre trop au serieux, ils ne signifient pas une identité perdue, mais plutot des pratiques sociale perdues. Notre relation a l'heritage est decisif dans un sens culturel, et quand les échanges et les relations de pouvoir de la globalisation tendent autant a la Westernisation de la planete, il faut bien repenser les consequences que ces relations peuvent avoir tout en rapprochant différents pays.
Nap est le mot hongrois pour le jour. Népi nap me rappelle le sentiment fort et commun d'identité qui rassembla les habitants de Marfü l'été dernier, et ceci, je me le rappelle avec grand respect.
